Weekend Kids’ Pick

This Saturday take the kids to the the New Museum’s First Saturday for Families, where Nicolás Paris will lead a hands-on drawing workshop. The program is recommended for kids aged 4 to 15 and includes free New Museum admission for two adults per family (children under 18 are always free). Workshops take place in the 7th Floor Sky Room, from 10 a.m. to noon. Get there early, as the tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Weekend Kids’ Pick

Tomorrow is the premiere of Viva Pinocho! A Mexican Pinocchio, at the new Latino children’s theater at 107 Suffolk St. The theater is the new home base for The Society of the Educational Arts, Inc. (SEA), a bilingual arts-in-education organization and Latino theater company for young audiences.

The play is suitable for all ages and all shows are in Spanish and English. Opening night will include a puppet red carpet and a ribbon cutting ceremony before the 8pm performance.  Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for kids. The play runs through June 3.

Family workshop on Chinese Puzzles at MOCA.

This Saturday visit the Museum of Chinese in America and try your hand at puzzle solving! MOCA is offering family puzzle-solving workshops on the last Saturday of each month from March to August 2011. Kids 4 and older work with their parents to solve the puzzles, hear stories related to the puzzles, and experiment with puzzle-inspired art.
