A woman reported being sexually assaulted by a man who accompanied her to the rooftop of a building on Clinton Street last Friday evening. It happened at about 2:50 a.m. She reported the man was about 5 feet-5 inches tall and about 25 years old. He was wearing a white tank top and jeans.
Following the assault, police say, the suspect fled in an unknown direction. They did not indicate where and under what circumstances the woman met the suspect.

Police are asking for help in locating a suspect wanted in a robbery inside the Canal Street subway station June 22nd. It happened at about 6 p.m. on a southbound R train. The suspect pushed the male victim, punched him and then swiped his iphone. Surveillance video shows the suspect struggling to escape through a turnstile. He’s described as a Hispanic or black man, age 30-35, 5’7″ tall, with a muscular build, slight goatee, and an earring. He was wearing jeans but no shirt. The NYPD has released a photo, recorded by an MTA surveillance camera, showing a man suspected in 16 robberies on the Lower East Side and Gramercy in the past couple of months. Police say the man often threatens victims with a knife or gun before stealing personal items, such as cell phones, iPods and wallets.
About half of the late night incidents have happened near East River Park. The first mugging happened May 5 at 205 Avenue C. The suspect swiped a necklace from a 59-year old woman. The robber has also targeted people on FDR Drive, Grand Street, East Houston Street, Montgomery Street, East 10th Street, East 13th Street and 23rd Street. Most recently (July 27), the suspect cornered two teens at 801 East 14th Street. An iPod and iPhone were stolen from the victims.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s; he has a thin mustache and thin beard and was last seen wearing a gray hoody, gray pants and black sneakers.

On Tuesday, a 15-year old boy was robbed at gunpoint on a playground at Madison and Jefferson streets. It happened around 4:45 p.m. Police say a man, probably about 18 or 19, came up to the boy, brandishing a silver gun, and demanding money and a cell phone. Surveillance video (posted above) shows a second suspect, around the same age, acting as a lookout.
The armed suspect is about 5 feet 9 inches and 170 pounds; he was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a black baseball cap. The other suspect is described as about 5 feet 7 inches, about 150 to 160 pounds; he was wearing a gray hoodie and black baseball cap.
Police are looking for two men following a late night shooting at the Duane Reade on Delancey Street Friday. The ordeal was recorded by a surveillance camera. It happened around 11 p.m. Two men came up to the counter and demanded money from a cashier. According to the Times, one of the men pulled out a gun and fired it at close range at the cashier, but missed. The men fled the scene. Police say they’re trying to track down the suspects – two Hispanic men in their early 40’s, both about 5’10”. One had salt-and-pepper-colored hair, a mustache and goatee, and the other was wearing a baseball hat. Contact Crime Stoppers if you have information about this crime.
Police are looking for a man who stole a wallet and iphone from a woman during a blind date on the Lower East Side. It happened Friday, March 9. The woman, 50, spent some time with her date (who she met online) at a bar on Orchard Street. She only noticed her personal belongings missing after leaving the man at the 2nd Avenue/East Houston subway station. It’s unclear exactly when and where the theft occurred.
Police believe the suspect is 25-30 years old. He’s about 6’1″, 165 pounds and went by the name “Hayden.” If you have any information about this crime, call Crimestoppers at 800-577-tips.
Police are asking for help in finding a man who stole an iPhone from a woman on Clinton Street last month. According to DNA Info, the incident happened on December 17th, at about 1:35 p.m., between Henry Street and East Broadway.
Investigators believe the suspect approached the woman, reached into her jacket pocket and swiped the phone. He then took off, east on Henry.
Police say the suspect is about 18-years-old and was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt.

The NYPD has released the name and a photo of a suspect they’re searching for in the murder of 18-year old Keith Salgado earlier this month. Salgado was shot and killed in the courtyard of the Campos Plaza public housing complex on East 12th Street October 16th.
According to DNA Info, Crimestoppers has put the word out for information about the suspect’s whereabouts. Hockeem Smith, 24, is wanted for questioning about the crime, which was witnessed by dozens of people gathered for a late night game of dice. Police say Smith weighs about 140 pounds and is 5’6″ tall.

On the morning of October 9th, a Sunday, we reported that a police helicopter had been brought in to search for a rape suspect, after a woman was attacked on Attorney Street. Now police have released security camera video showing the suspect just before the attack occurred.
The incident happened at about 7 a.m. In the video, you can see the man stop and leave a hat on the hood of a car. Police say the suspect came up from behind and sexually assaulted the woman on the sidewalk, near Rivington Street. She fought him off. He then ran back towards the camera and picked up the hat, before fleeing the scene.

Police have released a surveillance video and are seeking help in finding a serial purse snatcher who’s struck several times on the Lower East Side in the past few months. The incidents have happened at Katz’s Deli and Clinton Street Baking Company.
Katz’s, where three of the four crimes have occurred, gave the cops the video you see above. It was recorded September 30th, at 3:30 p.m. The other incidents at Katz’s happened May 1st and May 28th. The suspect hit Clinton Street Baking Company June 17th.
The suspect, a black woman between the ages of 40-50, grabs purses that are slung over the back of chairs. DeDe Lahman, the owner of Clinton Street, told the New York Times there was another theft on September 20th that police did not mention in a news release put out yesterday. “Both times, she came in, cased the place, went to the bathroom and when she came out, grabbed a purse,” Lahman said. “She’s smart.”
The New York Post said the woman asked for a table at Clinton Street Baking Company under the name “Jones.” “She waits outside a while to see if the place is busy, then comes inside and pretends to be a customer,” Gladys Bido, a waitress, said.
Police need your help finding two suspects who robbed a man on Allen Street on Tuesday, August 30th. DNA Info reported the two men approached a 51-year old man in front of 71 Allen (near Grand Street) at around 9:30 in the morning, and stole money from his pocket. They then took off on foot.
Police say the first suspect is 20-25 years old, he’s about 5-foot-8 and weighs around 180 pounds. He was wearing white shorts, a gray t-shirt, white sneakers and a blue Yankees hat. The second suspect is 16-20, about the same height and weighs about 130 pounds. He was wearing tan pants, a dark plaid button-down shirt and white sneakers.

Wednesday, June 29th, 10:25 p.m. — the suspects followed the victim a (a 30-year old Asian man), into a building on the Lower East Side (address not provided). They stole keys, money and a cell phone.
Thursday, July 14th, 2:15 a.m.– the suspects approached the victim (a 26-year old white male) in front of 283 Mott Street. An MP3 player and keys were stolen.
Thursday, July 14th, 2:35 a.m.– the suspects approached the victims a (23-year old white female and 1 30-year old white male) at the corner of Rivington and Ridge streets. The victims’ handbags containing money, cell phones and credit cards were taken.
Wednesday, August 3rd, 8:57 p.m.– the suspects approached the victim (a 64-year old Asian male), in the rear of 250 Clinton Street. The victim’s wallet was stolen. The suspects then fled the location.
The NYPD has surveillance video of the suspects (see above for a freeze frame from that video). The first suspect is described as a Black man, 18-25 years old, about 5’10″ with a thin build. The second suspect is approximately the same age, standing about 5’6″ with a thin build.
As previously reported, Police are trying to find a suspect who tried to rape a woman in a building stairwell April 14th. They say he used a knife to force her from an elevator in the Laguardia Houses on Clinton Street, but she was able to fight him off and he fled. Now the NYPD has released surveillance video clearly showing the suspect:
Investigators believe the suspect is also responsible for the rape of a woman in another part of the Laguardia public housing complex on the morning of January 18th, 2010.

You’re looking at a screen grab from surveillance video just released by the NYPD — as they step up efforts to catch the guy who assaulted a woman in the East Broadway subway station February 4th. Sabrina Scott was chased by the suspect and then pushed onto the tracks during a scuffle between her attacker and good Samaritan Derrick Oates. The incident happened around 6 o’clock in the evening. Police need your help finding a 79-year-old man last seen on the Lower East Side Saturday afternoon. Kong Xin Huang disappeared from his home at 79 Chrystie Street (near Hester) around 3pm. He’s about 5’10” and 180 pounds. Mr. Huang was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, waist-length brown coat, light brown pants and black leather shoes. He speaks Cantonese only.
