We’re learning more about a restaurant called Pulperia, which is going for a wine/beer license at Community Board 3′s February 11th SLA Committee hearing. The Latin-themed small-plates venture is being opened by Erick Caceres, who operates Oregano, a French/Iberian bistro in the Bronx and helped build Mamajuana, which started in Washington Heights.
On the application submitted to CB3, the cuisine is described as “Latin American dim sum, small plates” with pintxos and montadito (a Spanish style sandwich). A sample menu includes skewers for $3.50, including “bone marrow with smoked sea salt,” “lamb tenderloin with mustard sauce,” and “escargot with garlic and herbs.” Entrees, for two to four people, are served in hollowed out baguettes. Options include suckling pig ($40) and Argentinian style steak ($80.) According to the application, the “cocktail program will take on a very unique approach in that the creativity will rely solely on wine, beer, bitters and juices, etc., for each recipe.”
