At this time each year, the New York Public Library shares the top checkouts systemwide and in branch locations across the city. Let’s take a look at what people on the Lower East Side wanted to read in 2019.

At the Seward Park Library, Pachinko the sweeping generational story told by Korean-born author Min Jin Lee was the top checkout.

Crazy Rich Asians, Kevin Kwan’s romantic comedy novel turned into a blockbuster film, was all the rage at the Chatham Square Library.

And at Tompkins Square Library, the top checkout was Circe, in which author Madeline Miller’s re-envisions the witch from The Odyssey.
