Those dreaded service changes on the L Train are just three days away, but we still don’t know exactly how the M14 bus lines will be impacted.
Beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, there will be reduced service on the L in the evening/overnight hours and on weekends. As the Daily News points out this morning, the city has not disclosed its final plan for the M14. Initial proposals to eliminate numerous Lower East Side stops to accommodate express service were met with intense local opposition.
The MTA has been installing Select Bus Service machines along the route with a goal of beginning service by June. The city plans to eliminate stops on the M14 A and D lines, since it would be difficult to operate both express and local bus service along the same route. A spokesperson at the Department of Transportation told the News that the mayor is still planning to release his 14A scheme this week.
