–The city’s controversial plan to build a huge new jail at 80 Centre St. has been scrubbed, “mainly over difficulties relocating all the existing tenants in the building, which houses state offices and is used as the city’s marriage license bureau.”  They’re now reverting to an earlier proposal to renovate/expand the existing jail facility at 125 White St. [Daily News]

–The mayor and his deputies are moving ahead with plans for four mega-towers in the Two Bridges neighborhood: “The City Planning Commission is gearing up to vote on the project as early as next week, after stymying a separate effort by two Manhattan politicians to stall construction and require more government input.” Local activists are planning to file a lawsuit in a last ditch effort to stop the projects. City Council Speaker Corey Johnson said yesterday: “I am disappointed that the Department of City Planning and the de Blasio administration for some reason do not believe they should go through a public review given the enormity of the project and how it will impact the community.” [Politico- full story by subscription only]
