–An appeals court ruling means Sheldon Silver will likely stay out of jail until next year. A decision on his appeal will probably not come until December at the earliest. “For anyone familiar with Mr. Silver’s long history in office, the outcome of the panel’s decision is not surprising, given his penchant for brushing off threats and challenges.” [New York Times]

–The Landmarks Preservation Commission approves a plan from developers to demolish more of the fire ravaged Beth Hamedrash Hagadol site. 30 and 10 story residential towers are coming to the Norfolk Street parcel, once home to one of the Lower East Side’s most important synagogues. [Curbed]
