New York’s quintessential fall festival is back and ready for pickle fanatics from all over the world. A dill-ightful collection of merchants will fill Orchard Street with the divine scent of brine offering everything from the simple pickle on a stick, to ice cream flavored with dill and garnished with gherkins.

Pickle Day is a slice of the city’s history, reminiscent of when the streets of the Lower East Side were lined with pushcarts peddling their goods and wares for sale to a neighborhood of immigrants from far and wide.

Pickle Day is a community celebration that creates a vibrant marketplace of contemporary, local restaurants paired alongside picklers from all over the U.S. The Pickle Guys, a longstanding staple,  will be doling out sweet and sour samples and Guss’ Pickles returns to their neighborhood roots to tell the stories of Lower East Side yesteryears. Attendees can also get a taste of what’s ahead with shops and eateries from the forthcoming new Essex Market and The Market Line.

In addition to specially crafted cuc’s, there will be the knee slappin’ sounds of banjos played by Cracked Walnuts, and the beats of all day entertainment from local DJ’s Louie & Chan.

Pickle Day is a kid and kid-at-heart friendly event with a gamut of free activities: pickle toss, coloring tables, carnival games, and more. Not to mention, a free photobooth to pose with mascot, Mr. Pickle himself.

Participants from 27 states and territories will boast about their brine in a home pickling contest to be judged by a panel of restaurateurs and food editors, notably the owner of Nom Wah Tea Parlor, and staff from  Food & Wine and Delish.

This pickle party cannot be skipped! With 20+ picklers and 30+ local boutiques and eateries, it’s kind of a big dill if you miss out….

Pickle day is presented by Lower East Side Partnership. This year’s sponsors include Con Edison, Route 11 Potato Chips, and Yelp.
