Lower East Side Episode of Anthony Bourdain’s TV Program Premieres During October Film Fest

Must Read

An episode of Anthony Bourdain’s CNN show, Parts Unknown, focused on the Lower East Side will premiere Oct. 24 at the Food Film Festival.

Earlier this month, the network announced that the 12th and final season of the program would air beginning this fall. Bourdain took his own life in June. Parts of four episodes were already in production, including the Lower East Side show. As the LA Times reported, the episodes will be completed by directors working for Zero Point Zero, the production company that produces Parts Unknown.

While on the Lower East Side, Bourdain visited many LES institutions, including Ray’s Candy Store, Veselka, John’s of 12th Street and Max Fish. He also stopped by to see local documentarian Clayton Patterson, as well as many seminal figures from the neighborhood’s punk rock heyday.

The episode kicks off the film festival, which will be celebrating its 12th year. Here’s how its described in promotional materials:

The episode follows Bourdain on a personal journey through this formerly bohemian New York City neighborhood, as he meets, shares meals and reflects with music, film and art trailblazers including Richard Hell, Deborah Harry and Chris Stein, Lydia Lunch, Fab 5 Freddy, Danny Fields, Amos Poe, Jim Jarmusch, Kembra Pfahler, John Lurie, Clayton Patterson and Harley Flanagan, whose collective cultural impact in the 1970’s and ’80’s has sustained through the decades.

Some early bird VIP passes for the whole festival are available now. More ticket information will be released at the end of this month. CNN has not announced a cable premiere date for the final season.
