Will you be joining the masses in East River Park tomorrow night for Macy’s 42nd annual July 4th fireworks extravaganza? If so, here’s what you need to know.

The show will be launched from seven barges in the East River. They’re positioned between 23rd and 40th streets. Look for the fireworks to begin at about 9:25 and to last for around a half hour.

The Lower East Side waterfront might not be a prime location to watch, but you’ll still get a decent view anywhere along the East River. One of the official viewing spots is at East Houston Street.

If you’re arriving by car, you’ll want to know that East Houston Street from FDR Drive to Baruch Place will be closed starting at 3 p.m. (see the full street closure list here). The NYPD will have 6,000 cops stationed along the viewing areas in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Backpacks will be allowed, but according to a release from the police department, “certain items will be prohibited, including large coolers, lounge chairs, blankets, and umbrellas.”

There will be more than 75,000 shells used in this year’s show, up from 60,000 last year. More details about the big event here.
