As you may have noticed, there’s a lot of hoopla surrounding the 20th anniversary of “Sex and the City.” This is one reason Patricia Field, the hit HBO show’s costume designer, is making headlines lately. But there’s another reason. She just opened a new shop on the Lower East Side.
Field closed her legendary store on the Bowery in 2015, after decades as a fashion trailblazer. [She still keeps very busy; Field is working on the “Murphy Brown” reboot, among many other projects.] Earlier this month, she debuted Patricia Field ArtFashion at 200 East Broadway, in a commercial space owned by the Seward Park Cooperative (Field lives in the co-op). Some time ago, she sent a special invitation to the neighbors. “It’s perfect for me to be living and working in Seward Park. I am very pleased with my new gallery and invite you all to drop by.”

Last week, with the rosé flowing and a phalanx of tiny pups trotting around, she opened ARTFASHION’s first storefront—a gallery, she’s calling it—inside a residential building on the Lower East Side. (“I love this little gallery of mine,” said Field, “because it’s in an area that’s under the trees and it’s not so commercial.”)
