Patricia Field Opens Shop in Seward Park Co-op on the Lower East Side

Must Read

As you may have noticed, there’s a lot of hoopla surrounding the 20th anniversary of “Sex and the City.” This is one reason Patricia Field, the hit HBO show’s costume designer, is making headlines lately. But there’s another reason. She just opened a new shop on the Lower East Side.

Field closed her legendary store on the Bowery in 2015, after decades as a fashion trailblazer. [She still keeps very busy; Field is working on the “Murphy Brown” reboot, among many other projects.] Earlier this month, she debuted Patricia Field ArtFashion at 200 East Broadway, in a commercial space owned by the Seward Park Cooperative (Field lives in the co-op). Some time ago, she sent a special invitation to the neighbors. “It’s perfect for me to be living and working in Seward Park. I am very pleased with my new gallery and invite you all to drop by.”

Jezebel filed this dispatch from the launch party:

Last week, with the rosé flowing and a phalanx of tiny pups trotting around, she opened ARTFASHION’s first storefront—a gallery, she’s calling it—inside a residential building on the Lower East Side. (“I love this little gallery of mine,” said Field, “because it’s in an area that’s under the trees and it’s not so commercial.”)

Here’s more about ArtFashion from Patricia Field’s website:

As the fashion landscape has become increasingly homogenized in recent years, a resurgence in creative self expression has simultaneously taken hold. Having grown weary and uninspired by the era of ‘fast-fashion’ and mass production, style connoisseurs are bucking the trend by seeking out one-of-a-kind, artistically-driven designs. As a native New Yorker, boutique owner and style innovator, Patricia Field has worked closely for years with a whose-who of creative visionaries. From iconic artists of decades past like Keith Haring and Basquiat (who sold painted t-shirts in her famous 8th Street shop) to burgeoning talents of today like Jody Morlock and Scooter LaForge, art has always played an integral role in her world. So, who better to lead a new generation of artists through the emerging ‘wear-able art’ movement than Patricia Field The ‘ARTFASHION’ Gallery is comprised entirely of original made-to-order, hand crafted pieces by a select group of artists, curated by Field and sold exclusively at www.patriciafield.com.

The shop is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and weekends by appointment. The address is 200 East Broadway, Suite 3D.
