The newly expanded Kopitiam is already attracting interest at 151 East Broadway. You remember the traditional Malaysian coffee shop that popped up on Canal Street in 2015. The tiny spot was forced to close due to a rent hike. But today it’s back better than ever.

It’s a much more expansive space, and lovingly designed. As Eater explains, chef/owner Kyo Pang has been joined by Moonlynn Tsai, who helped opened the popular Malaysian spot Pine and Crane in Los Angeles. There’s plenty of room in the new space, including a big community table, several small tables and a counter looking out on the hustle and bustle of East Broadway.

From 7 a.m.-10:30 a.m., Kopitiam offers a traditional Malaysian breakfast (toasts with various toppings, half-boiled eggs, chilled stir-fried noodles). Among the featured items on the daytime/evening menu is a dish known as nasi lemak, which is made with coconut rice, fried anchovies, cucumber, peanuts, and a hard boiled egg. See the full menu here.

Starting tomorrow, Kopitiam will be open from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-2.a.m. on weekends.
