–Several residents of 85 Bowery will resume their hunger strike tomorrow. It’s been four months since they were displaced due to an unstable staircase. [AM New York]

–For the first time since vacancy decontrol became law, the city last year saw its first net gain in stabilized apartments. There was an increase in 4,387 stabilized units. Reasons cited include the return of the 421a subsidy program and more aggressive advocacy on behalf of tenants in housing court. [The Real Deal]

–Sheldon Silver still has $400,000 in his SpeakersPAC campaign fund. “Disclosures reveal Silver paid (a) lawyer who spoke up for him in (the) media (as his retrial on corruption charges was set to begin).” The attorney says the payments were for legal services unrelated to the former speaker’s criminal prosecution. –An Uber driver was injured after hitting several parked cars on Avenue D. [Channel 4]

–Designer Sandy Liang has opened a basement space at 62 Rivington St, It’s a former storeroom used by Congee Village, her dad’s restaurant. It features, “a baby pink velvet couch, plenty of mirrors, and moodboard imagery taped to the walls.” Liang shares some of her favorite Lower East Side hangouts. [Vogue]
