The guys at the 7th Precinct work fast. Local resident Carol Anastasio tells us she sent an email to Officer William Stump on Monday after noticing offensive, anti-gay graffiti on a construction barricade at Broome and Essex streets. By yesterday, the precinct’s Neighborhood Coordination Officers had taken care of the situation.
Stump and Police Officer Vincent Cuomo were on the scene yesterday painting over the graffiti. Stump then replied to Anastasio, letting her known that the hateful word scrawled on the barricade had been removed.
“In a world filled with so much depressing news,” said Anastasio, “this simple gesture gives me hope for a more inclusive and caring world.”
