There are a few local items of interest on the agenda for tonight’s meeting of Community Board 3’s liquor licensing committee. Among them is Austrian mixologist Albert Trummer’s latest project, a bar going by the name “Lotus Grand” at 324 Grand St.
You know the building. It’s the Quarters “co-living” concept that sports a facade from street artist Cryptik. Trummer most recently opened S’Zen, the cocktail lounge in the Hotel on Rivington. He also operates Sanatorium on Avenue C, but is most infamously known as the guy who lights drinks on fire (as he did in 2010 at Apotheke on Doyers Street).
The venue will be on the lower level and include 20 bar seats and 10 tables. In addition to cocktails, there’s a limited food menu featuring cheese selections and other light bites. Trummer is asking for a 2 a.m. closing time on all days.
