55-Year-Old Man Beaten and Robbed in Lobby of Rutgers Houses

A 55-year-old man was brutally beaten in a robbery Monday night in the lobby of the Rutgers Houses.

It happened around 10:40 p.m. at a building near Pike and Rutgers street. Two attackers came up behind their victim, punched him in the face and then hit him repeatedly with a metal pipe. The suspects took a shopping bag containing a six pack of beer and some cookies before fleeing.

The victim was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was treated and released for bruises on his head and leg.

One suspect has a medium build and facial hair, and was wearing glasses, a black hooded jacket and a black hooded sweatshirt. The other man has a slim build and was wearing a black baseball hat, a black jacket, blue jeans and tan boots.
