IdeasCity

The New Museum brings their bi-annual civic-minded festival, IdeasCity, back to Sara D. Roosevelt Park tomorrow for a full day of free panels, performances and workshops.

This year’s theme is “100 Actions for the Future City,” and is billed as “a daylong investigation of strategies, ideas, and propositions featuring artist talks, initiatives by local organizations, performances, workshops, and a panel of mayors including Kasim Reed of Atlanta, Gregor Robertson of Vancouver, and Maurice Cox, former mayor of Charlottesville, VA.”

Highlights from the densely packed schedule include a Bowery Poetry Slam, “In Chinatown,” a conversation with Robert Lee, Executive Director of New York’s Asian American Arts Centre, and Mei Lum, Founder of Wing On Wo & Co. and a closing keynote from David Byrne on “Reasons to be Cheerful.”

Ghetto Gastro and Hester Street Fair have curated a selection of NYC food vendors that will be stationed along Rivington Street, one block from the festival.
