The Lower East Side Film Festival has announced its upcoming slew of events happening June 8 – 15. The team promises “a huge line-up of films, panels, parties, a live stand up show, and a Christmas Party in June.” The always adventurous and highly curated festival will be screening films nightly at the Sunshine Cinema, which is slated to close soon, so make sure to catch these excellent films and help send the cinema out with a bang.
Kicking things off is actor Michael Angarano’s (The Knick) directorial debut, Avenues. Other highlights include: Comedy Night, featuring comedy shorts and a sneak peak of Episodes 1 & 2 from Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here, followed by a live stand-up after party; the 25th Anniversary Screening of Home Alone 2 + a Christmas party; the always popular Mind Fu*k Night; and closing night films, Poop Talk (a hilarious World Premiere featuring over 50 comedians riffing on, well, poop ) and Mermaids (a US Premiere about the real life “mermaiding” subculture).
