Here’s what happening March 7-14 in the neighborhood:

–Oh the horror! On Sunday night, Minor Theater opens The Terrifying, a story about a “creepy little village” terrorized by a monster. It’s the world premiere of this play by Julia Jarcho. Sunday, March 12-Sunday, April 2; 7 p.m.; Abrons Arts Center; $25. More info.

–Adventurous and witty playwright/songwriter Ethan Lipton opens a new show, The Outer Space, at Joe’s Pub Wednesday night. This :new adventure in bittersweet and hilariously off-kilter storytelling” will have a four week run at The Public. Wednesday, March 7, Joe’s Pub, 6:30 p.m., $40. More info.

–Nashville-based quartet All Them Witches will play Bowery Ballroom in support of the band’s new album, Sleeping Through the War. Friday, March 10, 9 p.m., $15, More info.

–The saxophonist Jon Irabagon begins his week-long residency tonight at The Stone, John Zorn’s avant-garde music club. As the New York Times noted, Irabagon, “gamely switches from straight-ahead jazz to astringent post-metal,” showing remarkable versatility and conviction in everything he plays. Tuesday, March 7-Sunday, March 12, 8:30 p.m., $20 per set. More info.

The Sense of an Ending, based on Julian Barnes’ 2011 man Booker prize-winning novel opens at the Sunshine Cinema this weekend with a cast the includes Jim Broadbent, Michelle Dockery and Charlotte Rampling. On Saturday, director Ritesh Batra will take part in a Q & A after the 7 p.m. showing. Facebook invite.

–In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Please Kill Me, punk legend Legs McNeil will appear at McNally Jackson Bookstore next week. The oral history follows The New York Dolls, The Ramones and other bands of the era through the Lower East Side. Monday, March 13, 7 p.m., More info.
