Someone Hung an Upside Down Flag in Sol Lain Playground (Updated)

Must Read

Here’s a photo sent to us over the weekend by TLD reader Christine Rodriguez. It’s an upside down American flag hanging at Sol Lain Playground. That’s the city-owned recreational space at East Broadway/Henry Street/Gouverneur Street.

This is what Rodriguez told us in an email:

What’s wrong with this picture? Displayed this way on Veterans Day and still today! Disgraceful and disrespectful. Called 311 as made the complaint, spoke to a Parks Department employee who was approached in person with my husband regarding this shameful act in a public park… right next to the Public School 134. This needs to be addressed!

Some people across the country are displaying upside down flags to protest Donald Trump’s election. It’s considered a sign of extreme distress.

UPDATE 10:57 a.m. Rodriguez tells us the flag was turned upright this morning after her husband spoke with a supervisor.
