Police want to find a man who put a dog in a suitcase and then left the suitcase in a dumpster.
It happened Oct. 19. According to Channel 7, he was seen leaving his apartment on Water Street at around 8:45 p.m. About 90 minutes later, police found a male pit bull in the dumpster at 7 Gouverneur Slip East. That’s just a block from FDR Drive and a couple of blocks east of Montgomery Street.
The dog was very emaciated.
The man is believed to be about 25 years old, standing around feet-5-inches and weighing 125 lbs. If you have any information that might be helpful to police, call Detective John Glynn of the Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad at 646-610-7272.
UPDATE 12:36 p.m. Here’s more from the Daily News:
Trapped inside the suitcase, the dog sat in the dumpster on Gouverneur Slip E. near South St. — behind the Vladeck Houses — for about two days before a carting company employee discovered the pooch, cops said. The worker handed the abused animal to the ASPCA, where the dog is on the mend, according to officials.
