Police continue to look for two suspects after a man was shot in the leg and robbed on Essex Street during the summer.

It happened at 146 Essex St. (between Rivington and Stanton streets) on Aug. 9. At about 3:30 a.m., the 31-year-old victim was standing outside when he was approached by one of the suspects, who demanded the man’s jewelry. The victim fled but was pursued by the second suspect and shot.

The suspects then removed the jewelry from the wounded victim before fleeing northbound on Essex Street in a red BMW. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.

Cops have released surveillance video, which you can see here.  Police say one of the suspects was wearing a Metallica t-shirt, a baseball cap and had tattoos on both arms. The second suspect was wearing a multi-colored t-shirt and also had tattoos on both arms.

If you can help solve this crime, call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477).
