Police are looking for a suspect wanted in the attempted rape of a woman on the Lower East Side Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at around 3 a.m. near Stanton and Suffolk streets. Cops believe the suspect removed the clothes of an intoxicated 21-year-old woman who was drifting in-and-out of consciousness. He was seen lying on top of the victim. A witness walked by the scene and yelled at him to stop, and he ran off. The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where she was treated and released.
The suspect is thought to be between the ages of 40 and 45, about 5-foot-7 and weighing around 180 pounds.
