Coming up on Sunday, State Sen. Daniel Squadron is hosting his annual “community convention.” It’s an opportunity for constituents in the 26th Senate District, which includes the Lower East Side, to weigh in on the issues important to them.

The event takes place this year at P.S. 124, 40 Division St., from 2-5 p.m. Here’s the link if you’d like to RSVP.

A few days ago, Squadron sent an email to constituents detailing some of the the issues that have been raised at past conventions and how his office has addressed them. A sampling::

-Parks Equity Success: I heard the need for everyone to have access to green spaces. That’s why I proposed that the wealthiest park conservancies link with under-resourced parks.

-A Fairer New York: Community members highlighted the need for basic fairness laws. And I worked with the State to secure basic protections for transgender New Yorkers, and I continue to push for passage of the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act.

-Transit on Track: There were real concerns about our subways and buses. So, I surveyed all 53 subway stations in the district to find the good, the bad, and the ugly of our subways. I’m also continuing the fight for the MTA capital plan. And, I brought the Full Line Review to the A/C lines to get service improvements.
