Must Read

LES 2016 Peter Promo 2

If you’re staying in the city over the holiday weekend, we suggest checking out the annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts.

Hosted by the Theater for the New City, the event is “dedicated to the past, present, and future of the arts on the Lower East Side and the East Village.”  As the Times noted today, this year’s 21 edition of the festival “includes the play ‘Death of a Black Man,’ by William Electric Black, an Emmy-winning writer in the middle of a play cycle about gun violence; a performance by the cabaret singer KT Sullivan; and a screening of the 1959 short film “Pull My Daisy,” which was written by Jack Kerouac and starred Beat Generation poets like Allen Ginsberg.”

The center of activity today through Sunday is the theater, 1st Avenue at 10th Street. More info here.
