Three teenagers have pleaded guilty to rape and robbery charges in connection with the attack of a woman on Eldridge Street last summer. They will be sentenced at a later date.
Sanat Asliev, Emanuel Burrowes and Erik Pek met their 33-year-old victim in an internet cafe shortly before 4 a.m. on June 1, 2015. The teens had escaped from a halfway house in Brooklyn. Prosecutors said they dragged the victim to a building at 54 Eldridge St., sexually assaulting her in the stairwell. They then stole the woman’s keys and broke into her Chelsea apartment building.
“In just two hours,” said D.A. Cy Vance, “these defendants committed a spree of violent felonies across downtown neighborhoods… The actions taken by these young men are truly unforgiveable. No prison sentence can account for the pain and trauma that these defendants caused the survivor in this case, but I hope that these convictions will provide a sense of closure for her.”
Boys Town, the Brooklyn group home where the teens lived, was shut down following the arrests of the three suspects last year.
