Nightlife Team Eyeing 107 Eldridge St. Returns to Community Board 3

We’ve been following happenings at 105-107 Eldridge Street, where a new team is trying to open a bi-level restaurant and nightlife venue in a space previously occupied by an Asian restaurant. A committee of Community Board 3 voted against the proposal last month. Now the applicants are back on the March liquor license agenda.

Board members were skeptical because William Tisch, the only partner listed on the original application, lacked experience operating restaurants/bars. There was scant information about the other partners.

The crew has a new attorney and has presented CB3 with a more detailed application. “The Flower Shop” will “focus on Staple Americana with crop rotation, locality and sustainability.”  William Tisch and Steven Tisch (THAT Steven Tisch?) are described as majority owners. Will Tisch is identified as a California native who moved to New York in 2013 to work for the NY/NJ Host Super Bowl Committee. He went on to work at the Major Food Group, helping to open Dirty French (in the Ludlow Hotel), Santina and Parm.

According to the application, other owners/investors include Andrew Flynn, Dave Turner and Dylan Hales. Flynn has been a “front-of-house” manager at Brinkley’s restaurant, the Jane Hotel rooftop and Sons of Essex, among other venues. Turner was controller at Major Food Group. Hales was a partner at the Randolph Group.

In the team’s first appearance before CB3’s State Liquor Authority Committee, Tisch said there would be a restaurant on the main floor with a lounge in the basement. They’re hoping to stay open until 4 a.m. Wednesdays-Sundays. The application states that there are 15 full liquor licenses within 500 feet of the proposed restaurant. The proposed nightlife spot is in the same building housing Fontana’s, the rock bar and performance venue that’s closing this month.

You can see the full application below. CB3 will hear this month’s liquor license applications Monday, March 14.

  1. 15 liquor establishments isn’t the issue. It’s 4 nightclubs within a block of each other. This will further destroy any quality of life we residents on Broome and Eldridge have. Louie and Change and Unhappy Endings are a total disaster and a slap in the face to residents, and are hallmarks of the inept CB3
