More than a year after a basement fire forced the closure of popular cocktail and oyster bar, Black Crescent, the Clinton Street nightlife spot is set to officially reopen on Sunday evening.
The fire happened January 2, 2015. Although insurance covered renovations, the Department of Buildings put the owners through a hellish ordeal. The city and Con Ed repeatedly declined to activate gas service due to issues with the fire suppession-system. But co-owner Michael Reynolds tells us the long nightmare is over. After a party on Saturday night, Black Crescent will be open for business starting Sunday from 6 p.m.-2 a.m.
The bar first opened in late 2013 at the intersection of Clinton and Rivington streets and won widespread praise for its inventive cocktails and high quality seafood.
Congrats Carlos and Reynolds! See you guys real soon.
