If you frequent our community’s public libraries, you probably already know that many branches have extended their hours in recent months. It’s part of an expansion in services made possible by an infusion of $43 million in Fiscal Year 2016.

We’re told the revised hours are now in place system-wide as of this week. The new funding helps restore $65 million cut from the budget for public libraries in the last several years.

According to a spreadsheet put out by the NYPL’s media relations department today, the Seward Park and Chatham Square libraries jump from 50 to 54 hours per week. The Tompkins Square Library goes from 42 to 46 hours. Here’s the new schedule for each branch:

Seward Park Library: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday closed.

Chatham Square Library: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday closed.

Hamilton Fish Park Library: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday-Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday closed.

Tompkins Square Library: Monday-Wednesday 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Thursday 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday closed.
