–There’s no court session today in Sheldon Silver’s federal corruption trial, due to the Veterans Day holiday. Yesterday, a prosecution witness testified that about three quarters of Silver’s referral fees came from clients referred by Dr. Robert Taub. The doctor received $500,000 in state grants.

In the Times’ “About New York” column, Jim Dwyer observes that the Sheldon Silver trial has “provided an unsparing look at the Darwinian battles among lawyers to sign up clients from a small, lucrative pool of cancer patients who had mesothelioma.”
