A group of neighborhood residents has come together to create a Lower East Side Holiday pop-up store, featuring local artists, “makers,” and entrepreneurs. They’re still working to attract participants interested in taking part. Here’s a blurb from their website:
We would like to feature products created and designed by you. We hope to inspire, support and sustain our community, artists and creatives. We are looking to feature a curated selection of our local artists and makers as well as provide time for talks, demonstrations and workshops. Our mission is to create a festive, beautiful, collaborative space that facilitates conversation, good times and connections between LES creatives and the public. We encourage new and emerging creators to come share your work with us! Let’s showcase far more than just the superficial facts and figures of the Lower East Side. A place where our neighborhood can be intimately explored in the company of fellow like-minded yet diverse dwellers, as the story of the Lower East Side’s streets, people, culture, and industry is revealed through our art. Be part of the cultural and historical character of our vibrant neighborhood. A neighborhood that weaves together historical and contemporary insights with personal perspectives. Submissions are open and taken on a rolling basis. We are very excited to work and collaborate with all of you!
The pop-up will take place Friday, November 27 – Wednesday, December 23; Tuesday – Sunday, 3:30- 7:30 p.m., or by appointment. The location is 365 Grand St. More info here.
