LES Bites: Harold Hunter Special, Il Buco Pig Roast, “High on Life” in Soho

In honor of Harold Hunter Day (tomorrow), Sweet Chick is offering a special menu with 100% of the profits going to the Harold Hunter Foundation. The local skateboarding legend, who died in 2006, pretty much lived on a diet of fried chicken. Sweet Chick, located at 178 Ludlow St., will be serving “Boonkie Drumsticks and Sweet Corn Waffles” (Harold’s dog was named Boonkie) and Harold’s Lemonade (mixed with Jack Daniels). The menu will be offered until October 18. Read more about the foundation here.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In support of the Susan G. Komen organization of Greater New York. Hotel Chantelle will be donating $1 from each dish sold. During the month, all dishes will be served on pink plates.

Il Buco, the Mediterranean spot on Bond Street, is hosting a pig roast on Sunday. Chef Joel Hough will be roasting whole heritage breed pigs plus offering lots of other dishes from noon-6 p.m. More information here.
