This being Halloween Eve, there’s no shortage of things to do on the Lower East Side tonight. But why not start out your evening at Bluestockings, the indispensable feminist and radical bookstore and cafe?
They’re having a fall fundraiser in support of a larger campaign to raise $50,000. Bluestockings in June signed a new lease for their space at 172 Allen St. The funds being raised now will pay for a much-needed restoration project. They’re at about 75% of their goal with 17 days left in the Indiegogo fundraising drive.
Per the Facebook invite, they’re “inviting rad folks from all over the city to come hear about our plans for the store’s future, and to chat about what we can all do to keep radical spaces alive in NYC!” The party begins at 7 p.m. Costumes/face paint encouraged but not required.
