In the past month, the rooftop bar has reopened at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Chinatown. You may have been one of the few who caught on to an earlier version of the night spot on the 18th and 19th floors of the hotel at 93 Bowery (Hester Street). Now the venue has been taken over by a new team.
A grand opening is still a few weeks away, but manager Michael LaSalle has been welcoming guests in “soft open mode” in the past several weeks. “Rooftop 93” offers spectacular views up the Bowery, of Chinatown and the Lower East Side and of the Manhattan Bridge. There’s an indoor lounge on the 18th floor and an outdoor space one level up.
Signature cocktails (Rooftop Rum Punch, Skyview Cosmo, etc.) run $14-16. Beers are $8. There’s a happy hour from 5-8 p.m. every night (see the specials menu below). A couple of things to keep in mind. The lounge closes at midnight weeknights and 2 a.m. weekends. Also, it’s not a huge space, so the bar can fill up quickly. More details as the new operators’ plans evolve in the coming weeks.
Ah, too bad it’s been discovered!
