A revamp is in the works for Moscow 57, the restaurant and performance space at 168 1/2 Delancey Street.

As Florence Fabricant reports in the New York Times, the venue will “turn into (a) new boîte for Russian and Central Asian small plates” next month. Tony Powe, the owner of 2nd Floor on Clinton and Barramundi, has signed on as a partner. Moscow 57 will be renamed Kapowski’s. According to the Times, the new chef will be Nikita Ponomarev, who is from Yekaterinburg, Russia.

The restaurant and cabaret opened in a space alongside the Williamsburg Bridge in February of 2014. But Kaye and partners Seth Goldman and Ethan Fein had to make do without a full scale kitchen for eight months because there was no gas in the restaurant. That created a financial hardship difficult to overcome.

Powe is closing 2nd Floor on Clinton tonight before a new management team takes over. He also operates ZipCard, a Lower East Side loyalty discount program.

Moscow 57’s last night will be this coming Saturday.
