Odd and ends from the food world:
Eater reports that Contra will celebrate its second anniversary by bringing in some major talent from the culinary world outside New York.
ICYMI: The Times says Kiki’s. the new Greek spot from the Forgtmenot team, is a “remarkably welcoming restaurant,” a place that is “uncomplicated” and “straightforward” in a good way.
The Voice checks in on Harry and Ida’s Deli, the new spot on East 12th St. that’s keeping it traditional.
Ruth Taube, a “90-something” local treasure, will teach Mo Rocca all about matzo ball soup on an upcoming episode of “My Grandmother’s Ravioli” on the Cooking Channel. See details here.
Clandestino, the popular neighborhood bar at 35 Canal St., is going to be opening a little earlier on Fridays. New hours are: Friday-Sunday 4 p.m.-4 a.m. The rest of the week, Clandestino opens at 7 p.m.
And regarding that photo: Birds & Bubbles does have a really nice backyard. They’re serving starting at 5 p.m.
The Birds & Bubbles backyard does look really nice. Too bad the place is so expensive. Another one for the tourists.
