We have a followup this morning on the case of the three teens accused of raping a woman they met in an Eldridge Street internet cafe earlier this month. The suspects – Emanuel Burrowes, Sanat Asliev and Erik Pek – have been charged as adults – with alleged sexual assault and other crimes. Yesterday, an employee of Boys Town, the Brooklyn group home where they had been staying, was arrested and arraigned on charges of falsifying log books.

24-year old Denzel Thompson indicated in the logs that he had been checking on the teens regularly the evening of May 31. Department of Investigation Commissioner Mark Peters told Channel 2 “The worker here didn’t properly supervise the children in his care, falsified the records, and the result was what are alleged to be some very tragic circumstances.”  The Administration for Children’s Services announced last week that it was closing the home while an investigation is conducted. Thompson and a second worker at the home were previously fired.

Prosecutors say the suspects met the woman at the cafe, located at 75 Eldridge St., dragged her away to another location and brutally assaulted her in a stairwell. They’re also accused of stealing her apartment keys and entering the victim’s Lower East Side building.

Thompson pleaded not guilty. Outside the courthouse, his attorney said prosecutors are wrongly trying to prove criminal intent.
