We’ve been keeping an eye on 50 Clinton St., one of several luxury developments on the Lower East Side in which some apartments are selling for over $2,000/sq. ft. Sales have reportedly been brisk even though the old single-story commercial buildings on the site have not been razed. That all changed today when demolition picked up speed; the guts of the buildings had previously been cleared away.
In the Instagram video posted above, Douglas Elliman broker Fredrik Eklund gleefully took a turn at the demo, as he noted, “dressed from head-to-toe in Armani.” The boastful broker is a star of the Bravo TV show, “Million Dollar Listing.” The high-end condo project replaces famed restaurant wd-50, as well as 60-year-old Rothstein’s Hardware and several other businesses.
