7th Precinct’s Simonetti Moves on to the West Village

Must Read

Captain Joseph Simonetti.
Captain Joseph Simonetti.

The Lower East Side’s 7th Precinct has a new commanding officer. He’s Captain Steven Hellman, who was previously stationed at Midtown South. Hellman also did a tour of duty at the 9th precinct, which covers the area above East Houston Street, so he’s familiar with the neighborhood. The previous commanding officer, Captain Joseph Simonetti (pictured) has been transferred to the 6th Precinct in the West Village. Simonetti was on the LES for a little more than one year, having been assigned to the 7th in the spring of 2014. The personnel changeup was first reported by the DNA Info blog.
