Two local Girl Scouts, troop mates Maddie Noveck, 8, and Helen Purdy, 9, from Brownie Troop 3051, have landed in the list of Top Ten Girl Scout Cookie Sellers in all of New York City. Noveck is #1 in Manhattan, #3 all five boroughs, and Purdy is #7 in all five boroughs of NYC. The two girls are third grade classmates at PS110 and are also good friends.  They teamed up to do some of their selling in Manhattan and learned about the benefits of joining forces.

“We had a lot of stamina,” Maddy said. This is her third year selling cookies so she has become quite experienced.  She now has a business card and had mastered her sales pitch.

“A lot of times, we sold more boxes by working together,” Helen said. “We were out for a long time and we went from (apartment) building to building.”

Maddy was a top seller last year as well as this year, selling 1,728 boxes this year. Helen, who has only been selling the cookies for two years, sold 1,127 boxes this year.

What do they like best about being top Girl Scout Cookie sellers? “I like being able to see the smiles on my customers faces,” Helen said.

“I like that the more we sell, the more we can give to our troop and the more we can give to the homeless shelters and the armed forces,” Maddie said.

“It makes me feel like I’m making the world a better place,” Helen added.
