You’re looking at the playground at P.S. 142.Manhattan Charter School (Delancey and Attorney streets), which is going to be off limits for awhile. A spokesperson from the Department of Education confirms that inspectors found a sinkhole yesterday. They’re still assessing the situation and determining what repairs will be necessary.
We first heard about the closure yesterday afternoon from a P.S. 142 parent. Yellow caution tape went up around a portion of the yard after school officials became concerned about the stability of the playground. Lisa Donlan, president of the Community education Council, told us a few minutes ago that the entire playground has been closed.
School is in session until June 26.
