The cultural calendar on the Lower east Side this month is practically bursting, but here’s another worthy event to consider. On Saturday and Sunday, congregations throughout the state will be taking part in the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Sacred Sites Open House Weekend.  Here are the details for the LES landmarks:

  • Bialystoker Synaogue, 7-11 Willett St., Sunday 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Eldridge Street Synagogue, 12 Eldridge St., Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; tours every hour.
  • Kehila Kedosha Janina, 280 Broome St., Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Stanton Street Shul, 180 Stanton St., Saturday 9:30 a.m.-noon (worship & fellowship); tour at 1 p.m.

Sponsors include the LES Jewish Conservancy. If you’d like to learn more about any of these synagogues, you can read background on the conservancy’s website.
