Our crowdfunding campaign in support of a yearlong reporting project on small business survival still has a couple of weeks to go. Thanks to more than 80 generous backers we’ve raised $14,250 but there’s still about $10,000 to go. We’ll only be funded if we reach out $24,000 goal by June 11.

We have some great rewards available for supporters, including Melt Bakery coupons and LES Film Festival tickets. Today we’re introducing something new.

It’s a special private tour of the Lower East Side’s historic Jewish sites led by Laurie Tobias Cohen, the executive director of the LES Jewish Conservancy. On this fascinating tour, you and up to seven friends will see the Bialystoker Synagogue (pictured), tour an East Broadway Shteibl (a one room house of prayer) and view many other sites, including Henry Street Settlement, The Forward Building and Straus Square. This reward is available at the $250 donation level. One out of three has already been claimed. [Tours must be booked in advance; tours are not scheduled on Saturdays]

Head on over to our crowdfunding site for more information.
