The New Museum last week released new details for this year’s “Ideas City,” the third iteration of its festival examining the future of cities around the world, with art and culture as driving influences.  It will be held on the Lower East Side May 28-30. This year’s theme: The Invisible City.

Featured participants include: Bjarke Ingels, whose architectural firm created the winning design concept for the East River flood barrier; Lawrence Lessig, the Harvard professor who advocates for reduced legal restrictions on copyrights and trademarks; Micah White, co-founder of Occupy Wall Street; and Jillian York of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Other highlights include:

  • The “2015 Poetic Address to the Nation,” a program by Bob Holman of the Bowery Poetry Club and ten poets, who will “contribute sonnets on the state of our union.”
  • A performance from Danny Hoch, taking on the character of a taxi driver, in an excerpt from the play, “Taking Over,” which explores gentrification and feelings of displacement in New York City.
  • Penny Arcade in “Longing Lasts Longer,” a “passionate rumination on love, longing, and the loss of New York’s cultural identity, set to a rollicking live-mixed soundscape.”
  • “The Invisible Lunch, a series of “discussions with incognito speakers to address affordable housing and food at a one hundred-foot-long table stretching the length of Rivington Street.”
  • The Living Theatre’s production, “No Place to Hide,” an “experimental and participatory theater experience about hiding and the human condition.”
