Kyle Kimball, the head of the city’s Economic Development Corp., is stepping down. In recent years, the agency has overseen several large projects on the Lower East Side, including the redevelopment of the former Seward Park urban renewal site and the renovation of the East River waterfront. The EDC also manages the Essex Street Market. Kimball, a holdover from the Bloomberg administration, is expected to stay on the job until June. “Mayor Bloomberg gave me my first opportunity to serve this City, and Mayor de Blasio trusted me to shape an economic development agenda focused on inclusive growth and shared prosperity,” Kimball said in a statement. “I am thankful to them both.”

  1. I’m sorry to hear this. I guess it is natural for the Mayor to want his own man/woman, but I was glad that he kept Kyle Kimball on. I think highly of Mr. Kimball and I hope he lands on his feet.
