La Contenta, an ambitious Mexican restaurant, opens at 102 Norfolk St. tomorrow. We first brought you details of the project from partners Luis Arce-Mota and Alex Valencia last spring.

Mota, a resident of the Grand Street co-ops, set out to create a menu drawing from his own Mexican roots but incorporating classic French cooking techniques.  Signature dishes will include Tostada de Cangrejo (sweet blue crab meat, celery root purée, chile de árbol, and crispy kale), Pork Ribeye a la Plancha (New Mexican green chile, pineapple, brussels sprouts, pork, beans, and mustard) and Lagosta a la Mantequilla (poached lobster in chile morita butter sauce, parsnip puree, green peas, mango, vanilla).  Valencia’s drink menu is built around agave spirits.

La Contenta will offer a happy hour daily from 4-7 p.m. Weekday lunch will be served 11 a.m.-4 p.m.  Dinner service starts at 5 p.m. and weekend brunch will be offered 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Keep in mind: this is the former Saro Bistro space, so it’s not a large restaurant.

Have a look at the menus.
