The folks at the Chatham Square Library are hosting what looks to be an interesting program about the poetry left by Chinese immigrants on the walls of Angel Island and Ellis Island during the early 20th Century.
Librarian and composer Sean Ferguson, who curated the fascinating LES Heritage Film Series when he was at the Seward Park Library, will moderate the discussion with writer and librarian Judy Yung, who is one of the authors of the book, Island: Poetry and History of Chinese Immigrants on Angel Island, 1910-40.

To keep the presentation interactive, and current, they have invited local high school students to contribute their own poetry that describes their own family’s immigration experiences.
The free program will be in the Chatham Square Library (33 E. Broadway bet. Market St. and Catherine St.) in the community room on the 3rd floor at 1pm on Saturday, March 7th. It will be presented in both Chinese and English.
