A few more details this morning about the stabbing and police shooting at the Vladeck Houses Monday night. As we reported yesterday, cops responded to a domestic violence call at 338 Madison St.. They fired five rounds at a suspect, Brian Quattrocchi, after he stabbed a 40-year-old woman, Olga Pichardo.

Police from the 7th Precinct first arrived on the scene at around 11:30 p.m., discovering that Quattrocchi had barricaded himself in a second floor apartment with Pichardo, a former girlfriend. They called in a team from the Emergency Services Unit. After hearing Pichardo screaming that she was being stabbed, they forced the door open and discovered Quattrocchi holding a steak knife to her throat. An officer fired a stun gun and then Quattrocchi reportedly stabbed her. That’s when a detective, a 20-year veteran of the force, fired his gun at Quattrocchi, striking him once in the torso.

Earlier this month, police say, Quattrocchi attacked Pichardo, punching her in the mouth. They had a warrant out for his arrest but had not located him. Quattrocchi, a Brooklyn resident, had a previous conviction for attempted robbery and was out on parole.

Quattrocchi is hospitalized in serious condition. He has been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.  Pichardo is also hospitalized. She is expected to make a full recovery.
