Members of the Lower East Side’s visual arts community are organizing a silent auction on Sunday to benefit the Bowery Mission. It will be held from 1-6 p.m. on the ground floor at 231 Bowery, which is part of the New Museum. Here’s more from the mission’s website:

Lower East Side galleries and artists with ties to the neighborhood will donate all artwork available at the L.E.S. Art Drive. The silent art auction will offer an opportunity for everyone from seasoned to burgeoning collectors, and the general public alike to acquire a work of art just in time for the holidays. Like The Bowery Mission, The L.E.S. Art Drive is open to everyone in the community.

As you may know, it’s been a particularly tough year for the Bowery Mission. This year, the historic non-profit organization has provided more than 390,000 meals to people in need and offered 98,000 nights of shelter.

The New Museum is also holding a coat drive for the Bowery Mission. Anyone donating a coat between now and the end of February will receive free admission.
