A few minutes ago, a bicyclist was rushed to the hospital after an accident on Allen Street. According to witnesses, the young woman, probably in early 20’s, was riding southbound in the bike lane just before Grand Street when she wobbled and then fell into a lane of oncoming traffic. They said she was struck by a truck and seriously injured. The driver of the truck stopped and remains on the scene this afternoon. More details as they become available.
That approach to Grand St. on the bike lane is unprotected and treacherous. (The design is such to make room for the left turn car lane). Lets hope she is ok. Please be careful out there.
She fell off her bike into oncoming traffic! This is horrible. I see so many wobbly people riding bikes that should get more practice riding in the park before they ride on city streets. It wasn’t the turning lane issue, this time.
